The idea originates from a passage in a Wendell Berry book Andy Catlett: Early Travels.
“Andy was freed by his parent’s trust yet bound to them in love and respect”
In the book, Andy is a young man setting out on a series of adventures. Different than many coming of age stories though, he receives his parent’s blessing with the words
I’ve thought about that passage a lot over the years because I think it’s so applicable to different things in life.
In relationships you’re free to pursue meaning, adventure, and purpose, but still bound to those you care about (this is Andy’s story).
I believe bullet journaling is uniquely suited for this idea too. When I use a bullet journal, notecard, sticky note, really any analog tool - I find a lot of creative freedom to think, dream, and come up with new ideas… within the boundaries of only using paper and pen.
